Gold Price Today, 4 October 2026: IBJA 24K at ₹1,48,138 (1 Oct Close), Silver ₹2,20,829; Down 2.6% and 5% on the Week

The latest benchmark gold price today, Sunday 4 October 2026, is IBJA’s closing rate from the evening of Thursday 1 October: ₹1,48,138 per 10 grams for 24-carat (999) gold and ₹2,20,829 per kg for 999 silver. The India Bullion and Jewellers Association published no rates on Friday 2 October, a central government holiday for Gandhi Jayanti, or over the weekend, so these remain the reference figures until Monday.

Over the week, gold is down ₹3,975 per 10 grams (2.61%) and silver down ₹11,521 per kg (4.96%), comparing IBJA’s 1 October evening rate with the 25 September evening rate. City retail prices quoted below are indicative and vary by source.

Week on week: gold and silver price change

IBJA rate 25 Sep PM 1 Oct PM Change
Gold 999, per 10 g ₹1,52,113 ₹1,48,138 −₹3,975 (−2.61%)
Gold 916, per 10 g ₹1,39,336 ₹1,35,694 −₹3,642 (−2.61%)
Silver 999, per kg ₹2,32,350 ₹2,20,829 −₹11,521 (−4.96%)

Most of the fall came on Monday 28 September, when silver dropped ₹9,297 a kg (about 4%) in a single session. We covered that day in our report on the silver price crash. Prices then steadied: the 29 September and 30 September rates moved within a narrow range, and 1 October added a small gain.

Silver price today and the global close

International markets traded on Friday. According to BusinessLine’s weekly round-up, gold ended the week at $4,141 an ounce internationally, down 3.4%, and silver at $60.40, down 6.1%. On MCX, December gold futures closed the week at ₹1,50,390 per 10 grams (down 1.9%) and silver futures at ₹2,25,877 per kg (down 3.8%).

The rupee’s weakness helps explain why domestic prices fell less than global prices: a dearer dollar raises the rupee cost of imported metal. MCX futures also trade above IBJA’s spot rates because they price delivery in December.

City-wise gold rate (indicative)

Retail rates for the gold price today are compiled by websites and jewellers, not by IBJA, and different sources give different numbers for the same day. Treat these as a guide only.

City / source 24K per 10 g Date and source
Delhi ₹1,50,000 3 Oct, BusinessToday
Mumbai ₹1,50,260 3 Oct, BusinessToday
Chennai ₹1,50,700 3 Oct, BusinessToday
India (national) ₹1,49,180 (22K: ₹1,36,750) 4 Oct, GoodReturns

Silver price today quotes vary even more: BusinessToday put it at ₹2,26,590 per kg on 3 October, while GoodReturns showed ₹2,35,000 per kg on 4 October, against IBJA’s ₹2,20,829. Retail quotes can include margins, and some include taxes; IBJA’s do not.

Tanishq 22K: the numbers disagree. The Economic Times reported Tanishq’s 22K jewellery rate at ₹13,820 per gram on 3 October, unchanged from 2 October. BusinessToday’s 3 October report gave ₹13,725 per gram. Tanishq’s own rate page lists ₹13,820 for 2 October and ₹13,725 for 1 October, so the lower figure appears to be the earlier day’s rate. Check the store’s rate on the day you buy.

What could move prices on Monday?

  1. IBJA’s 5 October opening rate, usually published around midday, which will replace the 1 October figures above.
  2. The rupee’s opening level against the dollar.
  3. The RBI’s policy decision on Wednesday, 7 October, which can move the rupee and so domestic gold prices.
