IBJA’s PM fix on 12 October 2026 put 24-carat gold at ₹1,48,061 per 10 grams, down ₹1,369 (0.92%) from Friday’s PM fix. 22-carat is ₹1,35,624 and silver ₹2,20,295 a kg, down ₹814. That is the gold silver price today on the benchmark many jewellers and lenders refer to. City jewellers trimmed their quotes during the day too: Mumbai’s 24K is ₹1,50,980 this evening, ₹430 below this morning.

How far retail sits above IBJA

The gold gap widened from about 1.3% this morning because IBJA fell more than the jewellers’ quotes did. Silver’s retail premium stays near 9%, so do not compare a jeweller’s silver price directly with IBJA’s.
Why the city rate and IBJA differ
IBJA publishes a bullion benchmark twice on working days. A jeweller’s city quote is a retail price, which includes the seller’s margin and local costs, and many shops update only once or twice a day. That is why retail quotes can lag a sharp move in IBJA in either direction.
When you compare two shops, compare the per-gram rate for the same purity on the same day, then the making charge, then hallmarking. The cheapest gold rate can come with the highest making charge.
What it costs at the counter
20 grams of 22K jewellery at Mumbai’s evening quote is ₹2,76,800 in metal value, or ₹2,85,104 with 3% GST, before making charges. A 10-gram 24K coin priced at IBJA’s PM rate would be ₹1,52,503 with GST; retail coins usually cost more. Ask for the BIS hallmark and HUID on the bill.
