Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card Review 2026: ₹4,000 Caps, Fees, Eligibility and What Users Say
Before June 2025, the Flipkart Axis Bank credit card was known for one thing: unlimited 5% cashback on Flipkart. That isn’t true any more. Since 20 June 2025, Flipkart cashback has been capped at ₹4,000 per statement quarter. Lounge access is gone, and Myntra now earns 7.5%. Further changes followed on 28 August 2026. Below is what the card offers today, according to Axis Bank’s own documents read on 10 October 2026, plus what cardholders say and what a year of spending returns.
Flipkart Axis Bank credit card: the cashback structure today
Axis Bank’s cashback terms set out five rates (Cashback T&C, PDF):
| Where you spend | Cashback | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Myntra | 7.5% | ₹4,000 per statement quarter |
| Flipkart (website and app, excluding Flipkart Health) | 5% | ₹4,000 per statement quarter |
| Cleartrip | 5% | ₹4,000 per statement quarter |
| Preferred merchants | 4% | Unlimited |
| Other eligible spends | 1% | Unlimited |
Three details in the terms matter more than the headline rates:
- The caps are separate. The surplus “maintained for Flipkart, Myntra and Cleartrip will be separate and will not be used for adjustments between these merchants”. You reach the Flipkart cap at ₹80,000 of Flipkart spend in a quarter, and the Myntra cap at about ₹53,333.
- The quarter follows your statement date. With a statement on the 15th, Axis lists the quarters as 16 Mar–15 Jun, 16 Jun–15 Sep, 16 Sep–15 Dec and 16 Dec–15 Mar.
- Preferred merchants can change. Axis says they “can change at the bank’s discretion”. The preferred-merchant PDF on Axis’s site is an image our tools couldn’t read, so we don’t list the merchants here. The terms do name Swiggy: only “Food Delivery on Swiggy App” earns the accelerated rate, and Instamart and Genie don’t.
What earns nothing
The terms exclude: gift cards on Flipkart and Myntra; gold in any form; “EMI transactions, purchases converted to EMI post-facto”; cash advances; fees; and transactions under 100 rupees. They also exclude these spend categories: utilities, telecom, fuel, jewellery and watch stores, insurance, financial institutions, rent, wallet loads, education and government services. Since 28 August 2026, Axis has also said “no rewards/cashback shall be earned on spends made on Bridge Fees, Road Fees, and Tolls” (Axis revision notice).
The EMI rule is the one most often missed: a purchase converted to EMI loses its cashback, even if you foreclose the EMI later. Cashback is also “rounded down for each individual transaction”, so ₹1,180 at 1% earns ₹11.
When cashback is credited
Cashback for a billing cycle is “credited in the next billing cycle 3 days prior to the statement generation date”. In Axis’s example, with a statement date of 15 February, cashback for 16 January–15 February is credited on 12 March. Pending cashback “shall immediately cease to be valid” if the card is cancelled or converted, or the minimum due is missed.
Fees, interest and forex
| Charge | Axis’s figure | Where we read it |
|---|---|---|
| Joining fee | “₹NIL (Limited period offer)”; the standard fee in the MITC is ₹500 | Card page; MITC |
| Annual fee (2nd year onwards) | ₹500, waived on annual spends above ₹3,50,000 (rent and wallet loads don’t count) | Card page; MITC |
| Finance charge | 3.75% a month (55.55% a year) | Card page; MITC |
| Foreign currency transaction fee | 3.5% | Card page |
| Dynamic currency conversion markup | 3.5% (raised from 1.5% on 28 Aug 2026) | Revision notice |
| Late fee | Nil to ₹1,300, by slab; ₹1,300 above ₹50,000 from 28 Aug 2026 | Card page; revision notice |
| 1% fees (from 20 Dec 2024) | Rent; third-party education payments; utilities ₹25,000+, wallet loads ₹10,000+, fuel ₹50,000+, gaming ₹10,000+ per cycle | Card page |
| Lounge access | None; the 4 domestic visits were “discontinued” on 20 Jun 2025 | 2025 revision notice |
Whether you pay the joining fee depends on the offer running when you apply. Taxes apply “as per Government norms”; the 18% GST used below is our assumption.
Every change since 2024, with dates
| Effective | Change |
|---|---|
| 20 Dec 2024 | The 1% fees in the table above |
| 20 Jun 2025 | Myntra cashback 7.5% (from 1%), capped at ₹4,000/quarter; Flipkart and Cleartrip capped at ₹4,000/quarter each; 4 lounge visits discontinued; Flipkart welcome voucher cut from ₹500 to ₹250 for new cards; exclusions identified by spend category instead of MCC |
| 28 Aug 2026 | DCC markup 1.5% → 3.5%; ₹1,300 late fee above ₹50,000; set order for applying payments (fees, then EMIs, interest, purchases, cash); gift cards moved to their own excluded category; no cashback on tolls and road or bridge fees |
Eligibility and how to apply
Axis’s card page lists two criteria: the primary cardholder must be “between the age of 18 and 70 years” and “a Resident of India”. It states no minimum income, and adds that the criteria “are only indicative”. The documents listed are PAN (or Form 60), income proof (latest payslip, Form 16 or ITR) and residence proof. Axis notes that requirements “may vary on a case to case basis” (Axis card page).
- Axis route. “Apply Now” on the card page opens Axis’s online form.
- Flipkart route. The Flipkart Axis Bank credit card is also offered inside the Flipkart app. We didn’t check the in-app steps.
- Video KYC. Axis’s VKYC page says the call takes under 3 minutes, runs from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the link is valid for 72 hours. Show your original PAN on camera.
Current offers, and what is only reported
- Welcome benefits (Axis card page). A Flipkart voucher worth ₹250 after a transaction within 30 days. It is only for cards charged the ₹500 joining fee; first-year-free cards don’t get it. A limited-period ₹1,500 Cleartrip voucher (₹30,000 spend in 30 days) also needs the paid joining fee. So on a free card neither voucher applies; only the Swiggy offer of 50% off up to ₹100 on a first order does.
- Big Billion Days. Flipkart’s own release gives Early Access from 8 October to “Flipkart credit card members”. Reports say this card gets only an EMI-linked sale discount; we couldn’t confirm that in Axis Bank’s sale terms. An EMI order earns no cashback. Our Big Billion Days cashback guide covers the timing in detail.
A year of spending: the worked example
| Spender A (annual) | Spend | Cashback |
|---|---|---|
| Flipkart: ₹1,00,000 in the Big Billion Days quarter, ₹50,000 across the other three | ₹1,50,000 | ₹6,500 (₹1,000 lost to the cap) |
| Myntra | ₹20,000 | ₹1,500 |
| Cleartrip (one trip) | ₹30,000 | ₹1,500 |
| Swiggy food delivery (assumed at 4%) | ₹24,000 | ₹960 |
| Other eligible spends | ₹1,20,000 | ₹1,200 |
| Utilities, fuel, insurance (excluded) | ₹60,000 | ₹0 |
| Total | ₹4,04,000 | ₹11,660 (about 2.89%) |
Spender A’s ₹4,04,000 includes no rent or wallet loads and is above ₹3,50,000, so the annual fee is waived. If ₹60,000 of the sale-quarter Flipkart spend went on EMI, that part earns nothing. Flipkart cashback falls to ₹4,500 and the total to ₹9,660.
Spender B uses the card lightly: Flipkart ₹40,000, Myntra ₹10,000, other eligible spends ₹1,00,000 and excluded spends ₹50,000, a total of ₹2,00,000. That earns ₹3,750. The ₹500 fee plus GST (₹590) is not waived, which leaves ₹3,160 net, about 1.58%.
What cardholders say
This is a summary of public discussion, not a sample survey. We read a TechnoFino thread in full; Reddit blocked direct access, so we saw its threads only through search snapshots. We couldn’t read Google Play reviews and haven’t used any.
- The cap is the main complaint. TechnoFino’s own write-up (20 May 2025) calls the June 2025 changes a “significant devaluation”, saying the card’s “primary appeal” of unlimited 5% Flipkart cashback “now appears to be fading”. Members worked out the cap at about ₹26,666 of Flipkart spending a month.
- Some prefer it lifetime-free. One TechnoFino member wrote “Still ok for an LTF card”, and another said lifetime-free holders wouldn’t close it.
- Quarter confusion. In an August 2026 r/CreditCardsIndia thread, a user asked whether the cap resets by calendar quarter. A reply said it follows the statement quarter, which matches Axis’s terms.
- Card blocks. TechnoFino alleges Axis has suspended cards over “business transactions”. We can’t verify that. Axis’s terms do allow it to cancel cards and withhold cashback where use appears commercial.
Who it may suit, and who should skip
May suit: steady Flipkart, Myntra or Cleartrip shoppers (up to about ₹80,000 a quarter on each) who pay in full every month, and who get the card free or cross ₹3.5 lakh of spends.
Who should skip: EMI buyers, heavy rent, fuel or utility spenders, flyers who want lounges, and anyone who carries a balance, since 3.75% a month cancels any cashback. Our no-cost EMI explainer and billing cycle guide help with both.
Quick answers before you apply:
FAQ
On the Flipkart Axis Bank credit card, is the ₹4,000 cap shared?
No. Each merchant has its own ₹4,000 per statement quarter.
What is the annual fee?
₹500 from the second year. It is waived above ₹3,50,000 of annual spends, excluding rent and wallet loads.
Do EMI purchases earn cashback?
No, and foreclosing the EMI later doesn’t restore it.
Takeaway: before applying for the Flipkart Axis Bank credit card, add up your quarterly Flipkart, Myntra and Cleartrip spends. If none of them comes close to ₹80,000 a quarter, the caps won’t affect you; if they do, expect less than 5%.
