Gold Rate Today, 5 October 2026: IBJA 24K PM ₹1,48,198, Silver ₹2,24,157/kg — Monday Fix Finally Out

The gold rate today, Monday 5 October 2026, is finally based on IBJA’s own print. IBJA’s rates are now out. The evening (PM) fix for 24-carat (999) gold is ₹1,48,198 per 10 grams and for 999 silver ₹2,24,157 per kg, according to the AM/PM table on ibjarates.com checked at about 9:10 PM IST. That puts gold ₹60 above the 1 October evening close of ₹1,48,138 and silver ₹3,328 a kg higher than the same day’s ₹2,20,829.

Our morning draft, written before IBJA uploaded Monday’s numbers, still carried the 1 October close. This page replaces that with the day’s actual opening and closing rates.

Gold rate today and silver rate today: IBJA AM and PM

IBJA publishes an opening (AM) and closing (PM) rate on working days. The figures exclude GST and making charges. “Rates are not published on Central Govt. Holidays & SAT/SUN,” the site notes; Friday 2 October was Gandhi Jayanti, so 5 October is the first new print after the long weekend.

Purity 5 Oct AM 5 Oct PM 1 Oct PM
Gold 999 (24K), per 10 g ₹1,47,785 ₹1,48,198 ₹1,48,138
Gold 995, per 10 g ₹1,47,193 ₹1,47,605 ₹1,47,545

Silver 999, per kg ₹2,22,934 ₹2,24,157 ₹2,20,829

Gold opened soft, then clawed back to finish a few tens of rupees above Thursday’s close. Silver did more: it opened about ₹2,105 above the 1 October evening rate and finished the day another ₹1,223 higher.

Silver rate today and the week so far

From 25 September’s evening close (999 gold ₹1,52,113; silver ₹2,32,350) to today’s PM fix, gold is still down about ₹3,915 per 10 grams (−2.6%) and silver about ₹8,193 per kg (−3.5%). Most of that drop came on 28 September; our report on the silver price crash covers that session. The 4 October Sunday update still used the 1 October close because IBJA does not publish on weekends.

On MCX, BusinessLine noted December gold around ₹1,49,150 per 10 grams (down about ₹1,245 on the day in one mid-session note) while silver held firmer near ₹2,26,050 per kg. Spot gold abroad hovered near $4,135 an ounce after last week’s fall.

City and jeweller rates (indicative)

Retail quotes are not IBJA rates. The Economic Times reported Tanishq’s 22K jewellery rate at ₹13,720 per gram across listed cities on 5 October, unchanged from 4 October, with Malabar, Kalyan and Joyalukkas at ₹13,675 per gram. ET’s IBJA AM jewellery table (per gram) matches the association’s morning print: fine gold ₹14,779, silver ₹2,22,934 per kg.

Ask any jeweller for the gold rate today per gram before GST and making charges, then compare it with IBJA’s published figure for that purity.

What to watch next

  1. IBJA’s 6 October AM rate.
  2. The RBI policy decision on Wednesday, 7 October, which can move the rupee and so domestic bullion.
  3. US rate expectations and the dollar, which IBJA’s president, quoted by ET, flagged as the main drivers of last week’s slide.

The RBI monetary policy calendar lists Wednesday’s decision. For storage and loan angles, see how much gold at home and our gold loan guide.

How does Monday’s fix sit against last week?

Last week’s slide left 999 gold about ₹3,975 below the 25 September evening print by the time IBJA closed on 1 October. Monday’s PM rate of ₹1,48,198 only nudges that picture: the metal is still firmly below the late-September peak, while silver’s rebound from ₹2,20,829 to ₹2,24,157 repairs part of the ₹11,521 weekly drop we flagged on Sunday without erasing it.

IBJA president Prithviraj Kothari, quoted by The Economic Times on Monday afternoon, tied last week’s dollar-driven selling to Fed-hike fears and high Treasury yields, and pointed to this week’s RBI policy as a domestic catalyst. That is a market view, not an IBJA rate.

City retail quotes will keep diverging from IBJA. Making charges, wastage and GST mean the invoice rate on jewellery is always higher than the association’s bullion print. Use IBJA to check whether a store’s “today’s rate” is in the right neighbourhood, not as the final bill.

Physical demand into the wedding season remains a wildcard. Jewellers quoted in Monday’s coverage described buying as selective after last week’s volatility: households wait for dips, while wedding demand is less price-elastic. That split often shows up as firm retail premiums even when IBJA prints are soft.
